Handre Pollard is in high demand, with as many as 10 clubs worldwide reportedly willing to pay more than R10 million for the two-time World Cup-winning Springbok flyhalf.

Pollard’s contract with Leicester Tigers expires at the end of the season, and while the English club hopes to retain him, Rapport claims several teams – including some in South Africa – have made inquiries about his future.

Four Japanese clubs are reportedly leading the race for the former Vodacom Bulls playmaker, with the financial muscle to offer a salary that few teams can match.

It is believed that Pollard, who has also played club rugby in France and Japan, is one of the highest-paid professional players, earning between R15m and R20m per year.

Since joining Leicester in 2022, the Tigers have undergone major changes, including losing Bok No 8 Jasper Wiese to Japan. Head coach Michael Cheika has also confirmed he will step down at the end of the season.

Franco Smith, Glasgow Warriors head coach and former Bok assistant coach, has been linked with the job.

Other candidates for the Leicester post include ex-Bok assistant Felix Jones and former Munster boss Graham Rowntree.
