Welcome to the Super Rugby Pacific Casualty Ward, the hub of all injury updates and news for the 2025 season.
All sides have named their squads for this week on Wednesday, with several sides seeing multiple players released from the casualty ward.
Among the headlining returns include All Blacks Beauden Barrett and Folau Fakatava – however some sides, namely Moana Pasifika and the Chiefs, continue to struggle with a tenuous injury list.

NSW Waratahs
The big news for the Waratahs is the loss of Wallaby Max Jorgensen to syndesmosis, with the star set for a long stint on the sidelines and who will be fighting to be fit for the Lions tour. It is too early to determine whether his Super Rugby season is officially over, but the prognosis isn’t good. He’ll also be joined this week by fellow Wallaby Darby Lancaster, who has sustained a concussion.
However, the Waratahs won’t be down a winger, with Triston Reilly back from a shoulder injury – he’ll come straight into the starting side to face Moana Pasifika.

Western Force
The Western Force have lost handy prop Ryan Coxon to a rib injury, meaning Josh Smith will come into the side to face the Highlanders. However, it is not all bad news for the men from the west, with loose forward Papillon Sevele finally being released from the casualty ward after recovering from a knee injury. He hasn’t been named into the starting squad, with Simon Cron opting for a settled team against the Highlanders.

Queensland Reds
Wallaby Josh Nasser is back in the casualty ward after just one week, sustaining an injury coming off the bench against the Force.
However, he is the only big loss for Les Kiss’ men, the Reds whittling down their casualty ward with Wallabies returning for their top-of-the-table clash with the Chiefs. Matt Faessler will swap Nasser out, while Fraser McReight and Jock Campbell return from a shoulder and wrist injury, respectfully. They will come straight into the starting 23.

Moana Pasifika
Tana Umaga’s bad run of injury luck has continued for another week, with ten players on the sidelines for Moana Pasifika. The good news is the veteran coach will welcome back four key players in Kyren Taumoefolau, Semisi Tupou Ta’eiloa, Danny Toala and Samiuela Moli – with the first three coming straight into the starting side against the Waratahs as Moana look to pick up their first ever back-to-back win – and given they’ve defeated the Tahs in their last two encounters, have good reason to feel confident.
However, the injuries have kept coming, with loose forward Miracle Faiilagi sidelined with a hamstring injury, while also being joined by Pepesana Patafilo and Tevita Ofa
